Where do professional politicians and lawyers cross the line when it comes to bullshit and power/money grabbing?

Okay, let me clarify a little. Where do professional politicians and lawyers really distinguish themselves from one another? The reason is because I want to be a lawyer mostly because of the writing aspect of the job, the long hours, the interaction with clients, and the high (above average) pay.

But I cannot stand politicians.

The vast majority of lawyers never become politicians.

on the inside? every lawyer is different. same thing with politicians. don't waste your time with generalizations.

LOL. Because there are only two professions that "just deal with the abstract" and "[argue] back and forth."

From that perspective, might as well compare lawyers with scientists, humanities professors, philosophers, etc.

I believe most people are the same on the inside. There's not really a distinct difference between any group and their internal psychologies save for the difference between non-hipsters and hipsters.

It's silly to say lawyers have high (above average) pay when most law graduates don't get jobs as lawyers but instead labor in average jobs under bone-crushing debt.

While it may be statistically true that an employed lawyer in the middle of his career makes more, eliding debt, than the average adult, that is a) not saying much and b) irrelevant to the decision to endeavor to become a law school graduate three years' hence.

To your question: there is no difference between a lawyer and a politician, but the similarity is not the bull shit. It's the persuasion. While a lawyer may sound less "bull-shitty," he is still only as effective as he is persuasive, just as a politician, and lawyers, judges, and jurors need to be "handled" just like any other emotionally cogitating human, and are not strictly rational beings.

But you won't have to worry about persuading judges and jurors much because even if you get a job as a lawyer, you very likely won't be in the courtroom. Your most important job will be persuading your boss, just like in a regular job.

The reason you want to be a lawyer is because of the long hours?

Lawyer - sounds like "liar"
Politician - professional liar

I think that's where the overlap ends
