Are SF law firms difficult to get employed?

Your statement is too vague for any meaningful response. As a general observation, the SF legal market is smaller than many others, and it is in a desirable location, so it is competitive to get a legal job there. That said, whether it is "difficult" depends on many variables such as your school, class rank, ties to SF, desired practice group, interview abilities, connections, etc.

Large law firms are harder to get in SF than in other places. There are fewer jobs and more people who want to live in the Bay. I don't know about smaller firms, but I would hazard that they are harder to get in SF than in other places for the same reason that large law firm jobs are.

There is a reason that UCD/UCH have worse employment stats than the top regional schools in other major metropolitan areas (e.g. Fordham, UIUC, WUSTL, GW, etc). Grads from NorCal schools are competing for relatively fewer jobs.

Yes. The CA market, SF in particular, is horrendous right now.

Somewhat, but not by a ton and it suffers from CA's economic woes just like SF.
