With a terrible LSAT; (151 oops)

Is this because schools are trying to diversify their incoming class? (Computer Engineer major w/ 3.4 GPA) or are they just trying to pad their stats by dinging me? As a follow up question, do some schools view a 3.4 engineering in a more positive light than they would a 3.4 in say a liberal arts or other BA degree?

No offense, but with that LSAT score, the "pad the stats" seems more likely.

Keep in mind that acceptance rate goes into US News rankings, and applications are way down, ergo schools need to take action in order to keep that "acceptance rate" number down. Fee waivers seems like a great way to do it.

Padding their stats seems like the correct answer here, but to answer the second part of your question: yes a 3.4 Computer Engineer is better than a 3.4 Crim major, but if the Crim major has a 3.6 or a 3.7, that edge will quickly disappear.
