1L mentor and networking

The school paired me with a recent graduate from my school at a V50 in a major city. The city is like a four hour drive away, so I'm not going to meet him in person. But the firm is great, his practice area is what I'd like to do, and I'd love to try to make and establish a connection. Any thoughts on how to do this?
