Top Law Schools

If I'm going to the gym immediately after class, is it socially inappropriate or disrespectful to the legal profession if i wear gym shorts and a tank top that says "BigStateU Lax" during my CCN morning torts class? Serious question. I saw a girl wearing panama bottoms and several dudes wear hats. Is this much worse?

I can't imagine anyone will care.

Unacceptable at your CCN. Can't tarnish the prestige. You're in respected, hallowed halls of legal academia. If you were at like WUSTL or BU then I'd say go for it.

As a 2L, I've started wearing yoga pants to school because I just don't care anymore. I have gotten some pretty strange looks from professors, but whatever.

Thats a fair point. Im not trying to impress anyone anyway. I wear basketball shorts most days. Would really prefer to wear flannel checkered PJs though.

It really has nothing to do with law school or, as others have mentioned, the rank of your law school. It's just inappropriate to wear gym clothes in public unless you're exercising. That certainly doesn't stop some people though. Law students, in particular, dress very poorly. I suspect it's a race to the bottom to prove how chill and not gunnerish they are.

haha fair points. I can assure you though that this girl I saw in pajama pants (on week two...) was anything but "chill." She looked incredibly stressed out tbh.

as long as you don't look ridiculous (e.g., spankies, man tank with the armholes cut down to your navel), no one cares. if you don't have to go to work or meet with someone important, wear whatever you want.

I kid you not, I have clothes I jokingly call my "dress sports bra" - as opposed to gray, ratty shit, or my yoga pants with hole in the crotch. Those are purely for sleeping and/or working out in my basement. If I'm willing to be seen by people I know, in public, in it, it's fine. No respect/disrespect calculation needed.

I have really never understood how people can't figure out what's appropriate to wear and what's not.

I don't think a tank would matter, but pajamas would look a little ridiculous. I rolled my eyes whenever I saw that in undergrad, but i haven't seen it in law school, yet. Why pajama bottoms? Just wear sweats, man.

Tank w/ Chubbies, Sperrys, and croakies on my Costas because it's another day in the life, not because I was accepted to strut down the catwalk for fashion week in Milan.
