If there are any past MPRE takers here, How much time should someone put into preparing for the MPRE?

I already have taken ProfResp. (about a year ago) and the MC questions the MPRE gives as examples seem simple enough.

Any past takers have experience to give?

I'm taking it in August as well. From what my friends have told me, the consensus is that only a couple of days is needed. However, some people studied for a full week.

Thats good to know. Basicly just enough to refresh from the ProfEthics course. Cool.

I know a few people who are waiting until post graduation to take it, but I figure my last term will be mostly bar prep. Why cloud the mind with an extra test then when you can avoid it by just taking it sooner?

Well, we have a few weeks to prep. We should all be fine.

I know I wouldn't want to worry about taking it right after the bar. I'd much rather have it out of the way.

Signed up for August and have not taken PR or any Ethics course (taking them 3L year). Signed up for the free Kaplan course. Any reason 3-4 days won't be enough? State where I'm working requires a relatively low score (GA).

I studied about 12 hours, and that was too many. Ended up 25 points above the required score.

Burn 1 or two weekends max to study. Watch the video, review the outlines, do some practices tests. Don't slack too much but don't burn any midnight oil here. Probably two days is sufficient if you took PR. A little more if you have not. It is easy. So put some work in and pass it the first time.

I had the most god awful week before the MPRE so I barely studied and failed by 5 points. The next time I studied for a few nights beforehand and my score jumped 30 points.

So, I'd say a couple of days of solid review should be plenty.

Most of it is just shit you can guess on using common sense.

Eh... this si what I heard from some people too, but in my experience wasn't the case. I think common sense might be able to get you down to 2 answers, but I don't think it gets you to the right answer most of the time.

The MPRE was trickier than expected. I studied maybe 20-30 hours total over two weeks and passed comfortably, but the Internet wisdom that you can study the night before and pass is very wrong.

I also found my law school PR class to be completely worthless for the test.

What did you guys use to study for the test?

I put in 2 days and passed, but I wish I had given it a week of solid study.

People differ in the amount of preparation needed. I'd say taking 2-3 days to go over the rules and some practice questions is worth it because passing by over 30 points > failing by one point.

It's always the second most ethical answer.

Watch a Kaplan or barbri video or read the barbri mini outline and do a few practice tests. You'll be fine.

Granted, I over studied, but I thought this was one of the few times I actually leaned how to be a lawyer.

I used the Barbri app until I knew nearly all the questions (there's only like 125) and read through the outline that Kaplan gives out free. Ended up getting well above 100, but also felt a lot safer about what and when I can reveal, and how to retain clients.

Don't let anyone fool you. Ethics isn't morality, so it's not always common sense, especially after Sox

I reviewed for less than a week and crushed it. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless your PR grade was bad or you're concurrently enrolled in it.

EDIT: Used a video lecture by my PR professor (llmbarexam.com), one of the review books that the bar prep companies hand out (Themis), and did a few sets of Themis's practice Qs. May disclose vs Must disclose is really the only hard thing on it.
