What are truly the exit options for big-law?

Making bank, paying off loans for a couple years and then moving in-house seems like a dream... is this really relatively easy once you make big law?

The majority seem to think it does provide pretty nice opportunities, but get a sense of others who claim you're screwed

Is there a great chance you can hit the big law jackpot only to be jobless or working at starbucks in a couple of years?

Depends on the type: corporate vs. litigation; and, even within each of those, on the specific practice area.

I'm just a 0L that is not quite sure exactly what I want to end up getting into. I was always of the belief that getting offer from big law = "making it." Wondering if there's actually a strong possibility (I know always unlucky chance they can lay off a bunch really early) that you can end up being jobless after you don't make partner
