Not sure if this is the right forum

I'm starting law school this fall. Is it cool if I start emailing local firms to see if I can intern there over the summer

or should i send actual letters

My vote would be to go have some fun. You don't want to be burnt out or already hating the law before you start 1L year.

really, i thought maybe it would give me a leg up when trying to get a job 1l summer

It won't. I did to get some experience with the legal field, but I went in once a week just to meet judges and get to know how things work. It was cool, but I wouldn't recommend any more than that. Go get drunk/laid/whatever floats your boat. You'll wish you had.
