hey guys
ive uve been admitted and u intend to go.
what kinds of reasons are good enough to defer?
like does it have to be health, or some kind of big thing?
or can it be something like having to do with work, family, etc?
thanks

you don't have to give a reason. its none of their biz. they accepted you, they have to deal with the possibility you may wish to defer. they can accept it or not.

Depends on the school and your timing. Some schools won't accept anything less than needing a year off for a round of chemo, some schools will accept basically any request. Some schools get pickier about the reason the longer you wait. Not enough people on TLS have experience with this to make our data any more than anecdotal.

Pretty sure some deferrals are binding, meaning you have to go to that school next year, or nowhere. I think it'd definitely be frowned upon, if not technically against the rules, to defer and then spend the year reapplying to try and get in somewhere better.
