How reliable are these? "Submit a question and we'll match you with a law student based on your interests who can answer your questions" and emails with profiles of current students who are badasses. Who are these students typically and is it worthwhile to try and ask them questions?

Of course take what they say with a grain of salt, but couldn't hurt to get added perspective esp. if you are on the fence.

Schools usually have an "ambassador" program - students self select into this, so the ones you get are by default the gung-ho type. The better bet would be to try and connect with a friend, or a friend-of-a-friend who attends the school for a non-sugar-coated, inside scoop.

I volunteered to do this for Penn. I get nothing out of it other than to be helpful for future students so they can make the right decision. We are not asked to write in a certain way, it's honest and genuine. Can't speak for other schools, but you can trust our program. Of course we are biased because we love it here

You should jump at any opportunity you have to talk to current students at schools you are considering attending. Like another poster said, you still have to take everything with a grain of salt, but you are far more likely to get a better picture of the overall school from a current student than pretty much anyone else.
