Top Law Schools

I've read that big law is awful work, with boring assignments and awful hours. I am curious however what first year big law associated actually do, i.e. what is the nature of their assignments. I gather doc review is scanning through lots of pages checking details (please correct me if I am wrong). Do big law associates do other stuff? Thanks.

You should read Double Billing. It was recommended to me by several former biglaw attorneys, and I thought it gave a good, honest "feel" for what they do. Lots of research, some writing (though by the time the writing gets edited by others, you can hardly tell you wrote it), and a lot of mundane stuff, like spending a weekend cataloguing and cross-referencing discovery docs in a computer database for fast access. Fun stuff.
