I wish I had (blank) before starting law school

Seeing that it's so late in the cycle, I have decided to wait until next round to apply. But from now until Fall of 2013, is there anything I can do to better prepare myself for LS?
I heard typing/reading speed is a must. Anything else?
Thanks!

I think a lot of successful students will tell you that typing fast was something that helped them have an advantage during exam time. Other than that, you might want to network with attorneys in town that your family might know or have connections with, or even alumni at your law school. E-mail them and say something like: I'm starting law school in the fall, wanted to know if we could have coffee/lunch to talk about it. This helps you build a network that can help you later with getting internships/jaaahbs.

I wish I had won the lottery before starting law school so that I wouldn't have to rely so much on winning it now.

Having money saved is nice.
While I think typing speed is important, you don't need to spend all summer practicing, unless you are really slow now, then definitely work to get up to above average. I think what's key in re to typing on exams is being able to think/organize while you type. That is a bigger advantage than being able to type like a demon, but needing to have it all mapped out first, or needing to go back and move things around.
I also think there's a lot to be said for going into your first semester well rested, happy, and de-stressed.

Spent the summer getting used to a strict diet and an early morning workout plan. I had always eaten reasonably well and maintained an active lifestyle, but it would have been nice to have been on an actual routine that I could stick to throughout the semester. Far too many poor meal choices and missed workouts. I'd like to think it would have been different had I planned ahead, but who knows.

Work on your writing skills. It won't necessarily help you that much on exams but strong writing skills are essential to success as a lawyer. It's especially important when you are working your summer jobs. LRW won't teach you a lot of what you need to know to write well. And unfortunately your employers will assume that you have high level writing skills.
