So I'm going to CUNY next year, and according to US News, it's designation is "national". Does anyone know what this means? I've heard and read on TLS that 2nd/3rd tier schools really only recruit locally.

US News is lying then. CUNY isn't national -- let's not kid ourselves here.

Pretty sure it designates all law schools as national. I just searched a bunch of CUNY's fellow TTTs and TTTTs and they're all listed as "national".
Edit: I stand corrected. After diligent searching, I found that Appalachian and Dayton are listed as "regional". Still, a ranking system that lists Cooley and Gonzaga as "national" indicates to me that that is a meaningless metric.

Law schools are national only if Brian Leiter thinks they're national.
