I would be extremely surprised if UVA didn't consider moving to VA while deferred as establishing "residence primarily for educational purposes". Can't hurt to try though.A. Mere physical presence or residence primarily for educational purposes will not confer domiciliary status. For example, a student who moves to Virginia for the primary purposes of becoming a full-time student is not a Virginia domiciliary, even if the student has been in Virginia for the required one-year period.
Perhaps though, if OP has a job in DC and moved to N.Va within commuting distance, you could argue that its not primarily for educational purposes.holydonkey wrote:Probably not. I do know the answer to this. Unlike housing and taxes, there generally is not a 1-year requirement for changing over your driver's license/vehicle registration/voter's registration. As long as you have these documents changed to VA prior to applying, they should not impact your status and you should be classified in-state.apper123 wrote:I've lived in VA for 6 years now, attending school nearly all of those years. I want to apply as an in-state transfer student to UVA Law, but I have no idea if I'd qualify. In fact, I'd wager I don't qualify. Never changed my driver's license over or filed any tax returns here.
6 years in the state and no domicile. lol.
