Has anyone checked out the on-campus housing? I saw the newer units (Southacre I think) on the campus tour, but was wondering what other units were like (specifically the studios or furnished 1-bedrooms in BlackAcre)

Thanks in advance for responding!

I've only seen 1 bedrooms in Southacre and a 2 bedroom in Blackacre. Based on what I have seen, I think Southacre is nicer than Blackacre. I think it is weird that in Southacre, you have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom. However, I think the larger kitchens in Southacre make Southacre better.

I think on-campus housing is too expensive for the quality you get (70's or 80's-tastic). You could get a better place in a much better neighborhood for the same price.

I don't think you ever get the quality for the price you pay in on-campus housing. There is a finite amount of real estate on/adjoining a campus, and you're going to pay for the convenience of being there.

I took a little look-see at McGeorge, and I would probably pay a bit extra 1L to live on campus for the convenience.

Yeah I feel like its worth the money to have one less thing to deal with during 1L. I'm from the area so I know how cheap apt's can be, I just think it would be nice to cut out commuting while I get everything else figured out.

I don't want to deal with moving my crappy furniture or buying new stuff so I'm debating if furnished apt is worth having a slightly less nice apt. I guess it depends how much nicer the apts are in Southacre??

Satchmo, are you going to be attending McGeorge in the Fall?

It's an option, but I'm really up in the air right now. I think the fact that reaches aren't panning out is setting in, and I'm evaluating my needs/options. Plus I am making a hurried attempt to visit most schools I'm interested.

McGeorge is a real option, but it's a middle of the road one - places decently well, still enough debt to be concerned about.

Decision rendered 3/16. I have never seen anything under fees, so should I be using the fees section information (or lack there of) to determine acceptance (or rejection)? Are they adding the tuition deposit information for accepted students this cycle?

With the passing of recent legal scholar days, figure I would give a shout out that I am still available if anyone has questions about the school, programs, or anything that comes to mind.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I am a 1L, non-traditional student, have solicited for summer Law review (Cal. legislation edition).

After the legal scholar's day McGeorge is definitely at the top of my list but I still worry about the cost. Trying to work that out. If all goes well, I will be attending McGeorge in the fall.

On their Status Checker, does it go from complete to under review or does it go from complete to decision rendered?

I've been complete since 1/11/10... still waiting. I spoke to the admissions office and they said some of the adcomm took a break due to the spring break and should resume soon.

Yes! I am going to Mcgeorge in the fall barring something crazy happening. I am going to Law day on 4/17 also w/ the pops. We should get a group together, anyone interested in maybe meeting up over the summer also? My e-mail is madow44@yahoo.com. Anyone interested shoot me an e-mail.

If you're around on 4/16, you can stop by the student center at 3:00 for "McGeorge Idol" (the McGeorge answer to "American Idol"). It's always been a fun event.

Hey guys, I got bored and started a Facebook group for next year's class. So if you are attending McGeorge in the Fall, join the McGeorge Law School: Class of 2013 Facebook group. There's not much up right now on the page, but hopefully we can start meeting some of our classmates for next fall :)

EDIT: Facebook group name is actually Pacific McGeorge School of Law: Class of 2013. Join!

Unless I'm accepted by Davis, it's looking like I'll be at McGeorge in the fall (unless some kinda WL acceptance comes along, basically just Hastings or Davis if I'm WL'd there).

To reiterate what Ipsa already said, if anyone's around from 3-5:30p.m. tomorrow (Friday, 16 April), stop by the student center and watch professors and students alike belt it out like no one's business at McGeorge Idol. As far as I know, admission is free.

If anyone's wondering, as well (seeing as how I haven't posted yet again in about a year), I'm a 3L day student at McGeorge and one of those "pesky" student ambassadors you might see running around Legal Scholars Day trying to make you guys feel welcome. :)

If anyone has any additional questions, feel free to PM. I check this occasionally, but I get emails every time I'm PMed that I usually remember to return. I can't say much about on-campus housing, as I've lived off-campus all three years, but I can talk about other things, having moved from the Midwest to attend McGeorge.

P.S. I can't believe I'm graduating in a month. Those 3 years race by. No joke.

What areas do you recommend for housing? I am thinking mid-town, I'm going to be moving from San Francisco, and I think I need to stay in a populated place within walking distance to stuff....or I might go crazy. Are there particular areas of mid-town to look in, or is it all essentially the same? Other areas you might suggest?
