I have a friend that is a 3L at McGeorge and he took me there the other day to walk around (everything was pretty much closed).

Depending on what happens with other schools, it may be in the mix.
Did they send scholly info at same time as acceptance?
Yes.

I received a large envelope with a packet that included an acceptance letter (honors at entrance, this letter had first year textbooks in it), then another letter with the scholarship offer. They also included an accepted students day note that offers to pay for the trip.

Well, since I just did a brief visit of the school, I may as well toss up a few thoughts for those that have no idea:

I expected the school to basically be a few buildings along a street with no "campus". However, the school does have a campus feel including a common, grassy area in the middle of the buildings and it is actually somewhat pretty.

Apparently the park immediately across the street from the school is referred to as "danger park". A friend who attends, and is no fearful person, says it's not a good idea to be around the park around/after sunset. Mind you, this is immediately across the street.

The neighborhood of the school is definitely a little run down, not absolutely terrible, but not the nicest. I live in a pretty bad part of San Francisco, however, so it didn't phase me or make a particularly bad impact. I just wish there was a large shopping center with a Safeway, some restaurants, and other stores very close.

The on-campus housing, at least one building, is really ON CAMPUS. One of the buildings is one side of the grassy central area, where one side of the housing faces all of the housing. I am a "live in the cool area where things happen" kind of person, but I'd likely opt for the lackluster neighborhood and on-campus housing if I attended. Mid-town, would likely be a 2nd year move.

The library seemed clean enough and not terrible. I've heard gripes about their library needing renovation, and they were definitely doing construction. It felt small to me, but I suppose that given the size/resources of the school, it is probably what I should expect.

Just curious, does the status checker go from "Complete" --> "In Review" before "Decision Rendered"?

Also, anyone receive part-time decisions yet? Thanks!

Hello,

I am newly registered, so forgive me for 'jumping right in.'

I am seriously considering McGeorge pending fin aid....

My ug GPA is 3.74, LSAT 161, and I have an MA from Oxford.

My question is, should I wait until next autumn to apply to ensure greater probability of available fin aid, or would applying mid-to-late Feb still give me a good chance of receiving a substantial grant or scholarship. With timelines and working full time, it would not be likely that I could write a competitive scholarship app, so I would rely on automatic grants.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

Apply now and see what you get. If you don't like it, apply again next year. If you have a year to burn, why not retake the LSAT and get a full ride or get into a better school?

BTW, I'm withdrawing with 20k per year, good luck to everyone waiting!

This seems like the more legit McGeorge thread... not that the other one isn't dandy. I'm attending the March 19 admitted students day! I'm excited!!

In today via snail mail (wasn't able to check mail over the weekend). 18k per year renewable contingent on being in top 1/3 of class. Free books first year, and travel stipend. Being my first acceptance of the cycle I'm stoked. Going to try to visit in the next few weeks.

For people seriously considering McGeorge:

Where do you live now/have you lived? Do you have any compunctions of living in Sacramento, and possibly working there long term?

What other school/scholarship options are you looking at? What type of law?

Sac isn't the most exciting place on the planet, but it's really livable for a large city. There are also a LOT of legal jobs here (relative to the population) due to being the capital of the biggest, bestest state around.

Is there a PT program and if so, is it easier to be accepted as PT compared to FT?

There is a PT program, and I imagine that it is easier to get into.

Im contemplating going to an admitted students day, when is everyone else going?

sent in a late app early last week, i'm planning on government work, and would love to stay in the bay area or come back to seattle, so i figured mcgeorge was a good option to add to the list

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
