If it's anything like last year, too, Dean Parker will invite each section to the McGeorge House deck (across the street from where she lives and right on the quad) for cookies, sodas, and a get-to-know-you sort of soire at the beginning of the school year. Highly recommended.

We can't be having an unblemished Risk board... we need to break it in with some spilt beer, a little potato chip grease, and top it off with a burn from a cigarette ember or two.

robsob: Have you contacted Nancy Whalen, McGeorge's housing director? She can put you on a list (or send it to you) of houses available to rent and also people who are looking for roommates. That's how I got my first roomie last year and I'm pretty sure I just found a roomie for this year by the same means (fingers crossed

).

Well, I'm starting my migration from VA in the morning! I should be in Sacto on Saturday at the latest, but hopefully Friday. So if anyone feels like going out, let me know! I'm really going to need some help finding good restaurants and pubs, particularly over these weeks before school!

Congratulations! Most of my family lives in the South and every time I get back from visiting, I too feel like I've escaped. You won't regret it. The majority of people who hate California have never actually lived here.
