I thought this thread would be useful for 0'Ls to discuss their plans before law school.

Are you working? Reading? Travelling?

I've thought about trying to do some volunteer work for CT Legal Aid or something similar. But I will mostly be collecting that teacher pay check and relaxing around the LI Sound in CT. Maybe a cruise.

Also working till May, but after I will be interning at my local DA's office, and will do some readings before law school - not hardcore though I still want to relax as much as I can. No money to travel overseas, but maybe a road trip! Also will be playing the crap out of my guitar until I learn a Jimi Hendrix song.

I'm most likely gonna go to school across the country so I plan to enjoy my time left in the Midwest. Gonna catch up with friends and family that I neglected during LSAT prep, go do shit I've always wanted to do

Recovering from Teach for America, getting in the best shape I possibly can before all of the time I have to work out gets eaten up by 1L-dom, and packing. So, so much packing.

I'll be ending my full time job in August, probably a week before moving to [insert law school I will be attending here, hopefully with lots of scholarship money].

Been traveling the world since last June on fellowship, back in mid-June. Think I'm just going to catch up with old friends, explore my city again, because I always feel I'm discovering something new about it.

Oh and learn how to speed-read.

Retiring from my current career in June, prepping for the patent bar so I can get it knocked out in July, and moving to my new city in August. Going to try to shoehorn a short cruise or something similar in there since my wife and I may not be able to go anywhere for a while once school starts.

PS: Obviously I'm 0L, but I would recommend based off 1/2/3Ls that its a good idea to begin working on your 1L resume before school starts. Start working on it late in the summer. I know HLS has some samples that can be used.

I'm not sure. I'd like to be able to travel...but that requires money.

I definitely second the workout idea though

And thanks @Theo for the resume page. That'll give me something to do!

Sounds promising.

I am attempting to buy a home (sadly long commute from both work and school, because of special school considerations for my daughter). Will likely take take a week or so off for moving once the home situation is sorted out.

Other than that I will be working as usual, saving vacation time in case I need it as the term moves forward.

Am I the only one who planned to work up until two weeks before law school starts? Is that a really bad idea? I figured it can't take me that long to move and settle in.

I will be working up to the start of law school, and through it as well.
