JS11 vs. JS12 pay grade

I understand that clerks coming straight out of law school will be JS11, and JS12 requires bar passage and one year of legal employment. My question is, would teaching at a non-US law faculty satisfy the legal employment requirement?

It should. My understanding is that it has to be law-related, not necessarily the practice of law. If the job requires a JD, I suspect it would count. But the safest thing is to ask HR for the court where you’ll be clerking.

Different poster, somewhat relevant question. Does the work have to be full time the year before for JS12?
