Re: 2022-2023 Post-Clerkship Hiring
Does anyone know anything about the hiring timelines for law firms in NC? I’ve applied to government honors programs and litigation fellowships that hire approx. 10-12 months out. But I haven’t had any luck with the fellowships, and the government honors programs look likely to be another bust. I’m typically more government/public interest oriented (honestly never worked for a firm, how impossible would that make getting an associate position?). But over the past year or so since graduating, family has become more important to me, and I’d seriously consider firms that would present a good opportunity to stay in state over government/fellowship positions that take me further away.

Since you’re already located in your target market, why not start reaching out to firms for informational interviews? That’ll help you figure out your hiring timeline, make some connections and possibly get a lead on job opportunities.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 11:11 pmDoes anyone know anything about the hiring timelines for law firms in NC? I don’t even see the post-clerkship posting. I hadn’t applied yet because in looking at this thread from last year, it seems they didn’t start hiring until February.Lurker08743 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 4:12 pmAnyone get any response from the Jenner & Block post-clerkship posting?

They had post-clerkship postings open for applications when I looked last month, but now it looks like they've taken them down?

Submitted to Quinn. Ding'd within a day. Not sure if that usual. Do they have grade cut offs? To be fair, it was a small office with around 6-10 people. Perhaps that explains. Kinda stung after only 24 hours, not sure if anyone has had similar.

They do have grade cutoffs, so that's probably why you heard back so quickly. but for everyone else, Quinn is generally office-agnostic and hires without regard to where you'll be "located." So you can apply to a tiny office and not worry.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 7:41 pmSubmitted to Quinn. Ding'd within a day. Not sure if that usual. Do they have grade cut offs? For the uninitiated: what is Quinn’s grade cutoff? And for that matter, does anyone know if Gibson Dunn has a cutoff and, if so, what it is?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 9:42 pmThey do have grade cutoffs, so that's probably why you heard back so quickly. but for everyone else, Quinn is generally office-agnostic and hires without regard to where you'll be "located." Does anyone know what Quinn's hiring timeline is for clerks? Applied to Quinn NY 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard a thing. Good sign? Plenty of other dings though so I feel your pain OP.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 7:41 pmSubmitted to Quinn. Movement from two Vault 10 lit boutiques (stupid metric but don't know how else to describe the firms) after months of radio silence. Seems like things are heating up.

I think Gibson might be prepping for layoffs or something. They've just been rejecting everyone pretty quickly across the board, regardless of qualifications.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 4:40 pmSame. Pretty impressive of them.
