There are many. A conservative SCOTUS clerk once told me the fastest way to become an Article III judge is to be a minority and/or a woman with extremely conservative politics. That way you are walking armor against being accused of racism/sexism. If you’re a minority, are ambitious, and have no morals, it’s not a bad career plan.

Aside from the trolling, I have an actual serious question here. What defines a "FedSoc judge"? Being a current member? Showing up at events? Being a former member? Being nominated when FedSoc had great influence in nominations? I am not trying to pick a fight, but I am genuinely curious what yall think.

OP here: not a troll! Relax you guys haha. Thought it would be too tedious on my end to include in my first post "aside from Thomas, Rao, Thapar, Bumatay, Ada Brown, who are other nonwhite Fed Soc judges?"

I found it interesting in my search that many nonwhite judges appointed by Republican presidents are not a part of Fed Soc. Perhaps that has to do with the fact that maybe Fed Soc was in its nascent stage while they were in law school.

You may have had better luck titling this thread "name some nonwhite FedSoc judges" (sure) instead of "are there any nonwhite FedSoc judges" (yes, many). Who are the nonwhite, Republican-appointed, non-FedSoc judges you're thinking of?

I think loose connection is probably enough. Idk if, like, Clarence Thomas is a dues-paying member, and even some pretty conservative lower court judges have been wavering in their active membership. But if they’re calling FedSoc chapters / conservative profs for recruiting FedSoc clerks, for example, then the connection is strong enough to call them “FedSoc judges”.

As the person who wrote this comment, I thought it was properly rated lol. That said, at my school, only a handful of people had ever heard of Estrada, which I think is a shame. Impossible to understand our modern confirmation woes without understanding that debacle.

Some of them explicitly stated that they are not a member of the Federalist Society during their confirmation hearing https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/downlo ... the-record and almost all of them have no signs of being a part of Fed Soc despite being appointed by Trump
