Does anyone know whether the health care plans for clerks cover therapy/other mental health services?

Many of them will, though how much may vary depending on how much of a premium you're willing to pay. There are a gazillion different options for federal plans depending on where you're located; if you go to https://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insuranc ... are-plans/, you can put in the zip code for your clerkship location and see what the different plans are. I know my current federal plan covers therapy, though tbh I forget what the co-pays and such are.

Caveat: at least when I was clerking, I'm 98% sure term clerks were eligible for the same health care plans as permanent employees, but it's been a while so I don't want to claim absolute certainty. I'd look at the plans at the above link, but next week you could reach out to the HR in the jurisdiction where you'll be, and ask if they can point you to any info about the health care plans available. You don't have to ask if the plans cover mental health treatment because they should point you to resources like the one I linked that let you check out all the plan benefits. Caveat to the caveat: if you recently got hired for the 2023-24 term, it might be a tiny bit early to check and HR might not know who you are yet, although it is their job to answer these kinds of questions so there's no real reason not to ask.
