What do people think of the market this year? Also curious whether there will be in person interviews.

Good question. I'd be curious to hear from anyone involved in biglaw hiring, e.g., how has the timeline shifted, if at all, from last year's cycle.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 10:23 amWhat do people think of the market this year? Also curious whether there will be in person interviews.

I've had post clerkship interviews (clerking in a district court in a major market non-nyc) as early as august of this year. I already accepted an offer. I think it's worth applying early because a lot of firms seems to have hired less litigation folks for the fall 2022 class.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 8:46 amGood question. Curious what people's thoughts are. Have people, other than the earlier poster, actually started applying? If so, in what markets?

My SDNY chambers has gotten a couple of letters from NYC boutiques—e.g. from Wigdor, the high-end plaintiff’s employment boutique—but nothing else so far.

My clerkship ends in in January 2023. Should I apply on the normal clerkship timeline or do I push my applications back a few months from the normal timeline?

I'd probably reach out to recruitment contacts at firms and see what they suggest. Might make sense to hold off doing so until Jan. 2022.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 12:03 pmMy clerkship ends in in January 2023. Hey y'all -- I have a question about this. Do firms generally post specific "post-clerkship" listings, or do we just apply to junior associate positions? Or email recruiting contacts directly? I'm clueless.

Some firms post specific post-clerkship listings. If there's not one, it's probably best to email the recruitment contact to figure out how to proceed.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 10:13 amHey y'all -- I have a question about this. Does anyone have any sense of when the NYC firms will be hiring clerks? I've not found a lot of intel yet, so my presumption was something like January/February, but any insight would really be appreciated.

Re: 2021-2022 Post-Clerkship Hiring
Is it too early to begin mass applying to firms? I see a few of them have posted openings, but others have simply said to email the recruitment contact without any word as to the timeline of their application process.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
