How long do offers typically remain open and do you think there is leeway to request an extension of an offer is open for less than 30 days?

Some helpful info: I applied to Molo last year and they invited me to a first-round interview (2 hours) within a week of me submitting my materials.

Does anyone know the turnaround time for Selendy, Kaplan Hecker, Morvillo, Holwell Shuster?
Didn’t apply to the others, but Selendy invited me for a screener the same week that I applied and let me know about a callback later that day.

I had the same experience with Selendy. They made a screener invitation within a week of receiving my application. Callback offer extended within hours of the screener. Offer received about ten days post callback.

Holwell also invited me for a screener within two or three days after I submitted my application. They proceeded to ghost me, so I have nothing further to add about their process.

Didn't apply to Kaplan Hecker or Morvillo.

Question on the salary raises/matches. Did anyone with an offer receive an updated offer letter reflecting the new salary scale?

I accepted an offer before the latest round of raises got started. Have not seen an updated offer letter, but I absolutely expect that I'll be paid on the new scale.

I asked for and received an updated offer letter after the raises happened.

Hi y’all. I don’t have a supportive career counselor and a first gen lawyer, so reading this thread has truly been saving me.

For people who have sent in applications, were they sent in cold? Meaning no connections or talking with anyone from the firm prior?

Do people use headhunters? I’ve been getting mixed information about whether it’s actually useful coming out of a clerkship.

Just keep applying. I know it’s super nerve wracking, but I know a bunch of people who got their jobs in June and July.

I'm having callbacks just these past two weeks based on applications I submitted in January. Wishing you luck.

Don’t use a headhunter. It might lose you a possible clerkship bonus. I just cold emailed recruiting contacts or used connections at the firm already.

Out of curiosity, why would a headhunter lose you a clerkship bonus?

I’m assuming it’s because a firm wouldn’t want to pay both you and a headhunter. Not sure if that’s necessarily what happens, but that is the issue with going through a recruiter, that it costs the firm money. I think the consensus I’ve seen is that a recruiter isn’t worth it coming out of a clerkship.

That is correct. The clerkship bonus is essentially the money they'd be spending on a recruiter that's being pitched at you directly. The bonus itself is doing the recruiting work, to an extent.

What type of legal market have you been targeting (e.g., biglaw in a big market, midlaw in a big market,). And have you been sending in applications cold (i.e., w/o networking?)

Is it too early to network if I’m finished clerking (D.Ct -> COA) in 2024? Some of the stories in this thread are making me nervous. My clerkship is in a relatively major city where I’d like to practice, but I have no connections there. Is there anything I can do now to improve my chances of landing BL post-clerkship?

I cleared conflicts already but I know that it can take a super long time sometimes (to no fault of your own).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
