Anyone else starting to worry about their applications?
Ive sent out about 75 applications to mostly v100 firms and have received a handful of rejections and 2 screeners. Not sure if it is just too early to start worrying or if I'm doing something wrong.
T6, above 3.5 GPA, district court clerk in flyover district.

Straight to CB, same for a friend of mine who applied this cycle, but I wouldn't be surprised if they still do screeners with very qualified people who are a bit more "straight out of law school" (friend and i both had two clerkships and/or relevant work experience etc. so that may have been a factor).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 6:29 amDid you have a screener at MTO or was it straight to callback?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 2:33 pmI'm not the OP but MTO LA invited me for an interview the day after I submitted my app. Anyone willing to share CB to offer or ding timeline for MTO LA/Susman LA/Irell/Hueston? Got it. I think a lot of firms are still in the early stages of hiring. I was able to secure CBs (in the DC market) by networking with partners informally, so perhaps that could inform your application strategy going forward.

For a clerkship concluding in October, what do you all think is the general timeline for NYC biglaw applications? I feel like January is kind of early, but I don't have many data points to go off of.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 1:48 pmGot it. Not the original OP, but I had an MTO interview. It took a while to get the ding (several weeks). I would assume hearing earlier is better.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 2:33 pmI'm not the OP but MTO LA invited me for an interview the day after I submitted my app. Anyone willing to share CB to offer or ding timeline for MTO LA/Susman LA/Irell/Hueston? Does it seem like, in general, firms are slower on the turnaround from CB to offer with clerkship hiring than lateral or even OCI hiring? Wondering if those who received offers anywhere can comment on the timeline.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 5:06 pmNot the original OP, but I had an MTO interview. Not sure about others, but my CB-to-offer timing in DC biglaw was usually no more than a few days.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:20 pmDoes it seem like, in general, firms are slower on the turnaround from CB to offer with clerkship hiring than lateral or even OCI hiring? I received an offer from MTO earlier in the fall. Their process takes longer because they have the firm approve all hiring decisions.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:34 pmNot sure about others, but my CB-to-offer timing in DC biglaw was usually no more than a few days.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:20 pmDoes it seem like, in general, firms are slower on the turnaround from CB to offer with clerkship hiring than lateral or even OCI hiring? Non-2/9/DC COA, SDNY/EDNY/DDC clerk. Lot of recent (as in the last week) movement for me with screeners/callbacks, but nothing for offers.

If you don't want to out yourself, could you say Vault range or "boutique"?
Also, what's a screener in this context? Still half an hour with one partner/associate?

First anon (double clerk). Boutiques have been moving (know Kaplan Hecker, Susman, Selendy definitely). And then everywhere from V10 to lower (higher?) within V100. Have gotten a few firms say they’re scaling back clerk hiring (GDC, Hogan most notably).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:11 pmIf you don't want to out yourself, could you say Vault range or "boutique"?

Screeners have been mostly 30 mins with partners. Some firms just go straight to 4 30 min interviews though.
