How far in advance of the start of a clerkship do you get information about a background check or other paperwork? Does it come from the judge's chambers staff?

I received paperwork last week. It might depend from court to court.

It starts in September.

Probably varies from court to court. I wasn’t contacted for onboarding until about two weeks before my start date, and it was all handled through our court’s HR department, not chambers.

Yes, everything was handled by the court’s HR, not chambers, for me, too, and they first reached out at the end of July (I started either end of August or beginning of September, I honestly can’t remember now).
