Movement

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Jun 15, 2021 9:11 am

Yesterday, the plan opened for all current 2Ls. Anyone hear of or know of any movement since then? I imagine there’s been lots.

My T14 (MVPD) saw very little movement yesterday from what I've heard, even among applicants who are definitely competitive. Which makes me think most judges who bothered to wait until the plan opened are also waiting until the actual noon start time for contacting applicants. I could just be OOTL though.

There was movement yesterday and this morning, but the vast majority of judges will wait.

Also at MVPD and there was definitely movement yesterday and early this morning for top applicants.

Judge Cardone's made at least one interview offer.

I sort of expected this board to explode with updates just after noon. Any reason why that's not happening?

The people who would be updating are furiously scheduling/doing interviews.

I interviewed with her in a previous cycle - I think she always acts really quickly.

Only received one email and I am extremely happy (top three in class at MVPD). Idk, I have little to no hope for this cycle but maybe I am just being pessimistic.

I’ve heard nothing. Not sure what MVPD stands for, but I’m above 4.0 at a T-20 and applied to half district half COA clerkships.

Nothing here either. Top 1% at school ranked 50-70. Applied to a mix of DJs, MJs, and a handful of CoA.

The fact that we have to somehow set apart MVPD from other, similarly ranked schools (like CCN) is hilarious. As if law students and lawyers couldn't find any more excuses to gatekeep. This is coming from someone who graduated in the CCN.

If this gets any worse we will end up with people referring to schools by their actual names!!

It’s especially funny because last year Duke was behind NU (and due to over-enrollment probably will be next year too).

Higginbotham and Owen on the 5th Circuit already extended offers. Same for Rodriguez and Pittman in WDTX

I have above a 3.8 at CLS and most of my classes were "real" black letters. Recommenders I know pretty well who made calls. Applied to lots of non-NY judges. Nothing. Really curious if this is happening to others.

Rough few days for CLS. First, we continue to woefully underperform at clerkships, and then the head of career services leaves for Fordham a month before EIP.

CLS grad. anon. had 4 interviews last cycle as a 2L. Nothing so far. I too am disappointed with the lack of institutional support.

Another grad here. OJC has been so bad, ranging from just not good advice to actively wrong information. The office is deliberately opaque and extremely unhelpful. They need a complete overhaul.

I can't tell whether I was given bad advice about being a competitive candidate or if I'm just really underperforming.

2021 HLS cum laude grad here with a district clerkship already lined up for 2021-22. Zero responses yet on over 50 COA applications submitted for 2022-23

Top 10% at CCN here. I applied to ~35 clerkships, mostly district court clerkships in major cities. I've only gotten two interview requests so far.

I was a transfer this year fortunate enough to pick up a very good recommender this year, but my grades are nothing special in general for CLS despite very good 1L-school grades. I was told to not apply to certain judges by OJC basically might piss off this recommender because my grades weren't good enough. Is this...normal?
