Anyone heard anything from really any court of appeals judge recently? Pretty sure I’ve applied to almost every one of them who sounds like they might review applications before June 15 of this year (on OSCAR). Was just curious if any of them had started to move - interviews or offers or anything.
Jane Kelly moves in the spring I know, she closes before June 15 because she only hires double-clerks, but I don't know if she's hired yet.

anyone heard anything from Gibbons on 6th Circuit? Heard from the grapevine that she had sent out at least one interview invite awhile back but was curious if anyone had heard anything else/since.

Anyone have a sense of when the Seattle CA9 judges (Gould and Miller) usually start hiring?

She's done. Finished about two weeks ago.

Heard that Gould chose who to interview a few weeks ago. No idea if that translates to recent interviews though.

At least last year Miller interviewed in June.

FYI Penn's spreadsheet of federal appellate judges from last year, with some info from chambers around the country on hiring plans, is (probably mistakenly) available on the open internet. I archived it here. It may be particularly helpful to students without competent clerkship offices to get this sort of info for them.

Heard through the grapevine that Justice Cuellar on Cal Supreme is looking for a 2022-2023 clerk. We know if this spot has been filled?

He definitely was looking for clerks for that term at least as of December, not sure if he’s full. But I do know he pretty much requires a prior clerkship, and if you apply without one, his JA will put in the confirmation email to let them know if you get one.

Received an 11th Circuit clerkship offer a few weeks ago. Got the impression that I got the last spot for the 22-23 term.

Did Judge Christen mail out a rejection letter to everyone who applied through OSCAR? Was surprised to see handwritten snail mail given I never actually spoke with chambers.

I applied to her via paper application over a year ago and just received the snail-mail ding.

Been applying to clerkships over the past month (paper and email applications). Got a letter from J.Childs (DCt South Carolina), saying that chambers received my materials and would give sincere consideration when they started to review applications. It was personally signed by the Judge. Does this usually happen, should I read anything into this? I expected complete radio silence unless I got an interview request.

I would not read into it. Not a ton of judges do it, but it's not more than a "confirming receipt" email, ya know.

I received a handful of similar letters during my application cycle last year (maybe 3-4). One turned into an interview request (and ultimately an offer). Not sure how much to read into them.

I applied to a judge in atlanta and also got a customized and signed letter. Maybe it's a southern courtesy thing. cf. no thank you notes in the northeast, but yes elsewhere.

I've seen public reports of three recommendations from senators for Biden district court nominees, Jia Cobb to DDC, Regina Rodriguez for D Colo, and Julian Neals to D NJ. Those are usually followed. Trump and Obama got nominees out in March and I'd expect Biden to start announcing next week.

Hi OP questioner here - I asked the clerkship office and they said just form... she's also apparently up for nomination to the DC Cir. and so may not be reviewing applications rn! Just FYI if anyone else gets something like this

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
