On September 18th Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) passed away from pancreatic cancer. RBG’s death has left a vacancy in the Supreme Court, which President Trump has nominated Notre Dame Law School Professor, Amy Coney Barret. Barret is the first Notre Dame graduate and faculty member to be nominated to serve on the United States’ highest court. Barrett has made clear in her Rose Garden address that she looks to conservative justice Antonin Scalia. She stated, “His judicial philosophy is mine, too. Judges must apply the law as written. Judges are not policymakers”. Barrett is thought to be a polar opposite of RBG. Do you think that Barrett will be confirmed as a judge?

I'm not thrilled about it, but yes. The Republicans have the votes to get her through regardless of what the Democrats do to stall the process.

It appears so. The bigger question is what happens next. Hard not to be concerned about the path we're heading down.
