COA clerk here. I applied to at least 15 big law firms in DC months ago and have not heard a peep from any of them, with the exception of a rejection from Gibson Dunn.

Which COA? And what were your stats?

How long typically between callback and offer/rejection for clerks (non-OCI)?

This is extremely variable. Boutiques typically take longer, and it also depends on whether you're interviewing in December or March/April. Some firms also have multiple "callback" rounds.

How's it looking out there for bankruptcy clerks? I can report that my co-clerk and I both have jobs lined up coming from SDNY/DE, but the timing varied significantly.

All my offers came within two weeks of the final interview, with the vast majority coming within a week. I will say I had multiple callback rounds (usually 2/3) for each firm. There was also a variable gap between callback rounds, but they were generally about a week.

Everything seems to be moving at a snail's pace this year. I was talking to boutiques in late March, and have only in the last couple weeks started to hear from biglaw applications I sent out when I started my cycle. We're just now getting some NYC V10 solicitations in chambers. So if the word on the street is true that NYC is the fastest-moving market, it looks like there's plenty of post-clerk hiring left to happen still.

Are you COA? I'm SDNY and have heard nothing.

A few months ago Orrick reached out directly by email, but it turns out they wanted clerks for their appellate practice. Morons.

Hmm? I'm also at SDNY, and I got a Cravath solicitation yesterday.

Did the boutiques you were talking to in late March still have offers to give? My co-clerks and I wrapped up our boutique cycle by March for the most part, so I'm just curious.

Yes, and I ended up taking one. One place ghosted me post interview, so for all I know they could still be looking at candidates.

NYC boutiques have been interviewing at least through April. Waiting to hear back from some.

D. Ct. clerk. I've done 3 second-round interviews with NY boutiques in the past ~2 weeks. One offer and waiting to hear back from the other two. Also did screeners with a few other firms, including boutiques in other markets and an NY V10. (Was planning to submit to more big law firms in case boutiques didn't work out, but probably will not at this point)

Had call back about 2 weeks ago; got invite for additional interviews with more partners.

District court > court of appeals clerk here. Applied only to LA and widely. Had two interviews, one offer (applied in December, interviewed in February).

So given how it has gone/is going this year, when would everyone recommend a clerk looking to start big law in fall 2022 apply, specifically in the Dallas market?

Would recommend March for Dallas and January for DC. Applied and received offers from both markets.

Anyone else looking at the Philly market? I've gotten lots of "we aren't hiring clerks", but then recruiters contacting me about firms looking for clerks so I don't know which way is up.

Starting to have a bit of anxiety - This is definitely a shitty time.

Anyone have any idea which firms in NY are actually hiring/accepting applications still? My old firm told me last month that they're not bringing me back, and I'm getting pretty damn nervous over here. Besides a few immediate dings, I've mostly just been getting complete radio silence.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
