I tend to lurk/not contribute on TLS because it is so biglaw-skewed but thought I'd post because I haven't seen much public interest info here. I (T6/law review/9th Cir COA clerk) have had several rounds of interviews for one of the projects at ACLU national and with several major labor unions. I have seen a decent amount of jobs pop up at large nonprofits like IRAP/NRDC/Earthjustice so I think we are getting toward the period when we can start putting more apps in when things open up.

Losing my mind as a COA clerk who can't find anything....feel like I am going to miss out and when the fall comes and I don't have anything, I will just be an umemployed applicant rather than an active COA clerk. Does the marketability of the COA clerkship lose its luster if you're not currently in it?
Which circuit are you in and which cities are you applying to?

As a COA clerk who is now working in a public interest/gov gig, your instincts are correct. This is about the point where more of those jobs are willing to interview, make offers, and be willing to wait a few months for you to start. And more should be willing the closer you get to your end date, if you don't accept an offer in the meantime.

My boutique cycle just wrapped up (NY/DC). For those who haven't seen as much success as they expected, my impression is that most of the elite boutiques (think Susman/Kellogg/KVN/Wilkinson, etc) have only a couple of available offers [per office]. If anyone cares, biggest advice is definitely to network before applying/interviews.

I did - I received a few offers and just accepted one (and I imagine others are in the same boat). I bet there will be another set of offers from a few places based on spots that just re-opened.

I'm interested. Would also be interested in your speculation as to whether certain biglaw firms that interviewed / offered / no offered you have finished hiring, or how many laterals they intend to hire.

Any updates on movement, specifically in CA? Starting to feel very discouraged -- only a couple callbacks, no offers, and not many litigation postings. All the special COVID bonuses show firms are doing well, but it looks like they're only hiring for corporate/transactional.

Only a "couple" callbacks?!

I'm in NYC, and all I've had so far are one biglaw, one midlaw, and one boutique. FML.

I said a "couple" for anonymity, but for this thread's morale, I've had two -- so you're ahead of me! FML for both of us.

How many of you are still looking for post-clerkship jobs?

It's now mid-April, which is beyond the sweet spot of early March for post-clerkship hiring, and I'm starting to get really worried. I thought scoring biglaw after clerking would be easy, but it seems like no firms are hiring!

I'll be happy to pass along resumes of those in year 4+ who have done patent litigation. My v30 firm is hiring in LA/NY. PM me.
