Have any schools reported interviews with Judge Chutkan? The position expired but I haven’t seen any reports otherwise.

Not sure if you’re the anon I was replying to, but my point was that if someone is trying to claim to be an exception to the stellar grades/connections requirement, but they had profs going to bat for them, then they had connections and they’re not an exception.
I agree with this. When I think "connections," I include instances in which a professor did something other than just write an LOR for you. E.g., if an applicant had a professor call chambers for them, I think that counts as a connection. This is partially because "connections" are all about knowing the right people, and sometimes that means knowing a professor who has a reputation for working the phone lines come clerkship season.

IMO, the only people who can really claim to be exceptions to the stellar grades/connections requirements are people who just submit an OSCAR application, do nothing else, and get a clerkship offer.

Haven't heard anything about interviews, but I can say I've heard from people who used to work in her chambers that she places an extremely high premium on work experience; it would be highly unusual to get an interview from her if you're still in school. That being said, I also threw in an application for the heck of it, I just wouldn't hold my breath or her.

I think it honestly just depends. I'm not in fed soc, don't have anything on my resume that would signal I'm remotely conservative, and I'm relatively liberal. I interviewed with / got offers from 2 DJT appointees (one D.Ct. one COA) and never was asked a single question about the law or judicial ideology. All questions about fit, past experiences, and my preferred working environment.
FWIW DJT appointee =/= FedSoc necessarily, especially at the district level. Some FedSoc judges do seem primarily concerned with fit, though.
Also, for the people claiming that you need stellar grades or connections that's blatantly untrue. I got 5 interview offers, I'm cum laude at a lower t14 (somewhere between top 35% and top 15%), and I'm a first generation law student with no legal connections that I didn't form myself. A lot of it is luck, a lot of it is having professors go to bat for you, resume, and personality.
Reiterating what others have said that "connections" in the form of professors are probably the most relevant connections.

Interesting to know. OP Anon here. I’ve been working. But apps haven’t turned into anything even where I’ve been able to network. So still not holding my breath

Interesting. Well no news is fine news for now since Judge Livingston seems pretty thoughtful about the hiring process

She should extend interviews within two weeks after the expiration of her OSCAR postings.

FWIW, a friend had an EDNY interview last week, and the judge mentioned they were still in the thick of their hiring process, so there is still at least some hiring still happening in EDNY.

On a related note, has anybody heard anything on Judge Vitaliano? His Oscar post expired, but I'm not sure if that means he is done hiring, or if it just means he is done accepting new applications.

He certainly has started reviewing, but, frankly, he is legally blind, so he may need more time than usual to review.

If a judge's application 1) changes from "expired" to "available," or 2) a judge reposts their opening so it's at the top when you filter by date, is it fair to assume the judge is actively hoping for more people to apply? Or could situation 1 ever be attributable to some weird Oscar quirk?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
