lol this keeps happening to me. Is this the new soft rejection (ghosting)?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:28 pmI have heard of interviews taking place last week and yesterday. Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
I interviewed with him last summer when he had one 2021 spot and all three 2022 spots, got an email a few weeks later saying he had completed 2021 hiring but was considering me for 2022 and to keep them updated. I got another offer and withdrew not long after, but I think he can be a bit slow when it comes to hiring (but will get back to you eventually)Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:28 pmI have heard of interviews taking place last week and yesterday. Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
For everyone feeling disheartened, I think the biggest disservice all clerkship offices do is not share that the process can be long for many people. I know people who were top 5 (not percent, just top 5) at CCN and spent a year applying.
If it’s something you really want, be flexible on year, talk to your clerkship office and recommenders regularly, and keep working at it. I shed a lot of tears, felt like I was throwing my apps into the void, didn’t know why I wasn’t converting interviews to offers. But eventually I got two perfect clerkships for me, both in competitive circuit/district. It sucks, but keep trying.

Does anyone know whether the Cal. Supreme Court interview invites that have gone out (i.e. Kruger) have been for 2021-22, or 22-23?

Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
Does anyone know if it's unusual to receive just one interview request throughout an application cycle? I applied to about 80 judges, got one interview request immediately and have had nothing since. Did not get an offer from the judge I interviewed with and have seen most of the judges I applied to fill up or extend interview invites to other people. I know I am lucky to have gotten interviewed at all, but I'm confused about what that one judge might have found appealing about my application when I've been passed over by everyone else.

Anyone want to wildly speculate as to how many judges have not moved? My clerkship office has provided next to no information, so just sitting in the dark here. Already given up, but willing to get my hopes up if some anonymous person wants to jump in and tell me there's more to go lol

Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
My sense is a *lot*, probably even the majority, of District judges have not moved yet. Absolutely no reason to give up hope, although I understand the impulse 1000%. Districts move at their own pace and tend to be slower than Circuits. Best advice I have (as someone in a similar boat) is to remember that, and remember it only takes one offer even if that offer comes in August or later, and remember that you can always apply again.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 11:40 amAnyone want to wildly speculate as to how many judges have not moved? Re: 2021-2022 Clerkship Application Thread
Welcome to clerkship applications. This is exactly how it works (I suppose except for those true superstars at the very tippy top). You don’t know who else applied, what qualifications and connections they had, and what personal quirks each judge has. I’m a broken record on this, but clerkship hiring depends on the opinion of one person so it’s completely idiosyncratic.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 11:30 amDoes anyone know if it's unusual to receive just one interview request throughout an application cycle?
