Openings with Judges Livingston, Sullivan, or Sutton?

Post by barstudyer2019 » Thu Nov 07, 2019 11:34 am

Does anyone know if Judges Livingston, Sullivan (2d Cir.) and/or Sutton (6th Cir.) have openings for 2020? Livingston has 1 listed on OSCAR, but I'm not sure whether it's real or if she just hasn't updated OSCAR in a while. Ditto Sullivan. JudgeSutton's OSCAR profile lists his 2020 position as "expired," so I don't know what that means. Any info would be much appreciated!

I would be beyond astonished if any of those judges have 2020 slots open.

Weirdly enough, the Livingston and Sullivan 2020 openings are real. Sutton is hired well past 2020, though.

Ok, thanks. Anyone have information on when Livingston and Sullivan will be looking at applications again in earnest?

Sutton has already filled 2021 and has started to fill 2022.

Neither Livingston nor Sullivan have openings for 2020. I think Sullivan is full through 2022.

Hmmm, know someone clerking for her in 2020 who got it this past summer, and another clerking for her 2021. Be surprised if she was holding a 2020 spot open, but guess it's possible.

Seems to be some dispute over whether the 2020 openings are real. Anyone in a position to know definitively one way or the other?

Just pick up the phone and call chambers to confirm if it is available; people call chambers all the time about clerkship openings. Or just apply and eventually you'll get the answer to the question you're really looking to answer (can you clerk for her) when her chambers either calls to schedule an interview or you don't hear anything.
