Hey y'all! I'm coming out of two federal clerkships (one district court and one appeals). Can anyone give me updated information (within the last year or two) re: big law clerkship bonuses? I want to make sure I'm not getting stiffed from the firm. Thanks!

I think it depends on the market in which you are (i.e., if you're going to big law (~non-V100) in a smaller market, the bonuses could be different). But assuming that you're talking market for V-100s in NYC/DC/Chi/SF/LA/Bos, market for a one-year D. Ct. and one-year COA is $75k ($50k for first, $25k for second). QE will give you $125k for both. I know some other boutiques also clear that market. Selendy & Gay sent materials to the chambers I work in recently that lists theirs as $100k for two ($75k for one).

My firm (V50) offers 50k for one, 70k for two, regardless of district v. appellate. Not sure about state or magistrate/bankruptcy.

For firms listed on the the NALP directory, there's a place to fill out whether a firm gives out clerkship bonuses and any details about it. Not a complete list of course but helpful nonetheless. https://www.nalpdirectory.com/

Anyone have any info on mag/bankruptcy clerk bonuses? I've asked around and nobody seems to have any definitive info on this

The most recent class of clerks at my firm all received the standard 50k whether it was it was a district, MJ, or bankruptcy. But I've heard that some firms give smaller/no bonus for anything less than A3 clerkship
