Anyone know anything about Connecticut Article IIIs?

Meyer would be fantastic to clerk for, but he is very competitive. Worth a shot though, because he is outstanding, as a judge and a human.

I can say that as people / professors, Chatigny, Underhill, and Bolden all seem lovely, but I can't speak to their temperment in chambers. Chatigny and Underhill are obviously much older. People also seem to like Hall, although I've never interacted with her.

I would second this. I know of people who have clerked for, and loved, their experiences with Meyer, Underhill, and Bolden. And I've only heard positive things about the others. I don't think any of the D. Conn. judges are worrisome from a "mean/ill-tempered/difficult boss" perspective.

Agree with (or at least have no reason to disagree with) most of what has been said, particularly that Meyer and Underhill are beloved by their clerks. I will say that — take it with a big grain of salt — I got a bad vibe about the Judge Hall clerking experience from her clerks. Nothing direct or hugely concerning, but they didn’t seem that happy. And in truth you need to read between the lines to figure out the bad clerkships, usually, since people are very reluctant to talk negatively about their judge. Arterton seems to be the most demanding in New Haven in terms of hours (though perhaps slowing down as she ages, idk), but I didn’t get the sense that her clerks were unhappy.

Unfortunately, I have also heard similar things (well, a similar thing) about Judge Hall. A friend of mine clerked for her, and while he didn't share details, he made it sound like a very tough year.

Subsequent reviews on my law school's aggregator thing have been largely positive, so perhaps that was just a bad year.

How competitive is 'competitive'? Someone earlier said Meyer was hard to get -- doe that mean you need to be on YLJ or is ~20% + Law Review/ Moot Court at a T14 potentially in the mix?

I think in general Meyer hires candidates who are competitive for 2nd Circuit judges. I know two people who clerked for Cabranes + Meyer. Neither were on YLJ though. I don't think many judges actually care about YLJ.

That said, I would encourage anyone who is competitive to apply. Meyer seems like a truly delightful boss.

Not Biden appointees, but have heard great things about Chatigny and Shea in Hartford.

What is clerking for Bolden like? Where do his alums usually end up?

NOT Hall, her clerks were miserable.

Anybody heard anything about Vernon Oliver? I know he's new.
