Hi TLS,

So I am clerking for a NJ Superior Court judge in 2017-18. I was wondering about what benefits will be available in regards to health/retirement. Do I get to put money into a 401(k) or a pension for that one year? Thanks.

Couldn't you ask the HR department at the court? They'll be much better positioned to answer this question than anyone here.

Clerked in the app div. You get state benefits, which are awesome. Think $15 total for the birth of a child and incredibly reasonable premiums. I also clerked for the fed gov and the states benefits were much better. You are automatically enrolled in the States pension program. I think it's 7.5% of your gross. You can keep with the state or roll it over to an IRA later on.
