I mean, you likely have all the materials ready. I would just reapply and see what happens. Although it's not common, it's entirely possible someone took the position and reneged.

In that instance, since he already scheduled an interview with me before, wouldnt it be better to call his chambers/clerk to see if he would be open to interviewing me again?

I just dont want to create the awkward situation where I show up to a party as an unwanted guest.

I'd just reapply. There's virtually no down side - about the worst the judge can do is reject you again, and submitting to the new position will express your interest in re-interviewing. Also, if your principal concern is appearances/decorum, calling chambers directly might be perceived as an attempt to jump the line when the judge hasn't yet expressed any interest in having you reinterview and is more likely to come off as tone deaf than submitting an application that the judge can just ignore if he's not interested. (Of course, calling chambers might also ultimately work out in your favor by getting your app noticed again - it's impossible to know for certain.)

I see no harm in calling the chambers and either:

asking if they are still taking applications

or

saying that you saw they recently updating their post indicating they are still filling positions, and asking them if you can be considered again.

It certainly is a strange sounding situation, but at this point, what do you have to lose?

I don't recall if you mentioned whether you applied via OSCAR or paper, but I don't believe OSCAR will even let you apply to the same position again and even if it does, I can't imagine them taking a look at your materials again. Either they didn't want you, or they do. There's no harm in placing a call.

If you are from out of town, perhaps you can even call and let them know you are going to be in town for the holidays (whether or not it is true), and if they are still considering applications, you'd love to come interview. If they say yes, book a ticket.
