Is it worth being a clerk for a trial level judge for a year?

Assuming we are talking about state trial level, it depends what your other options are. By all accounts, you will learn a fuck ton. Just depends if you're okay with the potential drop in income for a year assuming you have other options.
If you have no other offer on the table, it's a great option. Judges have friends in law firms. You have a year to hone your writing and learn from your Judge. Win-Win situation IMO.

Yeah I'm doing this now. I have good stats, but just landed hard after a no-offer. Its turning out great. Experience is 180, super substantive. I'm in talks (with my judge's consent) with a number of strong firms (well known botiques & regional biglaw), as well as an interview with DOJ Honors. And the job, though too more hours than I expected, is very fun.
