Clerked on ND Cal for a judge who generally, but not always, has a patent clerk. You'd get a look from our chambers and likely an interview, particularly if you were at firm with a major patent presence in the courthouse. If you apply now for the slots that are 1-2 years out, I think you've got a fighting chance (if not, say, an excellent one).

Good to hear! Any advice for maximizing those chances?
