How's the math on this one:

T10 + top 15-20% + law review + publication + 2+ years V5 + average recommendations/connections = EDNY/SDNY????

The chance that you aren't an insufferable human in person are virtually nil.

Chiller303 -- favorite comment of the day, but don't forget that clerks like hiring people similar to themselves . . .

In terms of chances OP, yes you certainly have a shot with some judges in SDNY/EDNY (particularly those that like work experience). I wonder what your "average" rec comment means though, as that might be more of a problem if they aren't "good" recommendations.

OP here. Thanks -- I think I mainly wanted to know if I was categorically out of the running based on grades (I understand that for some judges I likely am) so this is good to hear. The average rec comment sort of gets at the same thing -- is anyone ever out simply based on "good" (but not great) recommendations? Probably could have been clearer -- I'm sure my recommenders will have positive things to say, but I was never one to really talk with professors unless I really needed to because I didn't really see the point back then.

Still OP. More math -- 98% true.

as if what someone on here says will ultimately determine whether or not you'll apply to SDNY/EDNY judges. Stop reading tea leaves, apply, and wait.

These generic "chance me" threads really need to stop unless there's a very specific or unique question/characteristic you want feedback on.

Wait. I'm confused. Are you saying there's a 98% chance that you are a shitty person or that you are 98% a shitty person?

Sure. I'd still find it helpful hearing from people here, some of whom may have been/currently be SDNY/EDNY clerks and may be able to say if my application would even get looked at in certain chambers. If not, then yes, that would probably determine whether or not I apply to those specific judges.

But I take your general point, and I get that this entire process appears to be highly unpredictable.
