I don't intend to practice patent law in the future but is taking an IP or patent course essential for a Patent-Pilot clerkship in California? I'm entering my final semester of law school and have my schedule largely on lock but can make a last second swap to include IP based on the responses I hear. Thanks much!

yes, definitely take patent law. The PPP clerk does nothing but patent work all day everyday--it would be silly not to take it.
Also curious why you want to do a PPP clerkship if you don't intend to practice patent law? It's a pretty tough area of law to do for 2 years just for the hell of it..
