Is clerking in a Circuit far from where I'll practice worthwhile?

Aspiring litigator here. I'm planning on practicing in a flyover state in the 10th Circuit, but have an "in" with a US District Court Judge in the 6th Circuit. To my knowledge, this judge is not considered to be unusually prestigious or anything -- he's fairly new to the bench.

Would taking the District Court clerkship be helpful / attractive to employers back home?

Yes, any federal district clerkship is valuable because the skills are transferable.
