Northwestern 2L with a solid GPA, here. I am looking for an externship with a federal judge at the Dirksen courthouse. I will be doing that as a practicum while taking an advanced legal writing course to help prepare for judicial clerkships, next semester.

Can anyone help a fellow TLS'er out?

Yeeah contact Cindy Wilson or Janet Brown. There should be a resume book that you can upload your resume to, and then clerks/judges will look and pick the resumes they like.

Alternatively, you can go to the ND IL website and send emails to each clerk asking if they are hiring for next semester/if they still have any open externship positions. This is what I did b/c I was applying for my externship super late and it worked out for me. But definitely talk to Cindy first.

FWIW, Cindy is in charge of EXTERNships. Janet/Kadens are in charge of CLERKships. So Janet might not be able to help you as well as Cindy would (Cindy also teaches the practicum class).

I received an email that said we should mail the judges our materials. I have no problem doing that. I was just trying to see if a TLS clerk was looking for externs so I could expedite the process.
