Just received an offer from a district court judge in D. Conn. Clerkship would begin in 1-2 yrs (don't want to out myself). I would spend 1-1.5 yrs at NYC biglaw firm before doing clerkship.

Q: I applied due to a connection with the Judge's current clerks and am curious how helpful this clerkship will be for things like AUSA and bigfed jobs if I don't want to be in Connecticut long term. (Grew up in conn. for a bit and not what I want long term). I'm not interested in a prestige pissing contest or something, but I just want to know if a clerkship in D. Conn would still be valued by even nyc biglaw.

Will you have an offer to return? If so, it is valued.

OP here. Assuming so, but I'm more curious whether the clerkship would add value to my career and let me do something more besides go back to my firm, i.e. go to a more selective firm that had turned me down earlier or open bigfed/AUSA doors in non-Conn. locations
