For current law clerks that got interviews at firms with mass mailings, did you get better results emailing or mailing your cover letter and resumes to the firms? I've heard that firms are more likely to ignore email applications and you have a better shot of a person actually seeing your application if you send it by regular mail.

I'm an alum who went biglaw->government->big market USDC->biglaw (as counsel/NEP in a super competitive smaller market -- think like Seattle or Portland or Denver or Austin).

I ONLY emailed people I knew at firms in my target market. I did it like six months in advance, saying "hey, I know it's only March, but I'll be looking for a job in the fall." It was about even -- a third of the firms started up conversations (several of which led to offers), a third said they weren't hiring, and a third just ignored me.

Anyway, I think the general grouping goes email to someone who isn't in the HR loop is better than mail to the HR loop is better than email to the HR loop.
