Anyone have experience with applying to judges that are new to the bench (fed. dist level btw)

With the senate confirming many nominations yesterday, a few of which are in my jurisdiction, I was interested in applying. However, with no info on prior clerks its kind of difficult.

As always, it kind of depends. For example, I've seen judges in my district bring their state court clerks with them and then hold on to them for a bit. I would just treat it as any other type of judge and start sending out apps for 2015 and beyond.

I pulled this off successfully a few years ago. Anything you want to know specifically?

Reach out to her. What's her current job? The first thing to find out is if she's already hired or if she's still looking. Some judges, like mine, preferred to not hire anyone until they were confirmed by the Senate (I had reached out to him as soon as he was nominated.) If you know someone who knows the judge/appointee (professors, former colleagues, etc) you should contact them first for advice.
