Can anyone who has received a Quinn offer this year confirm the $125/150k number? Interviewing soon with an office, but our chambers hasn’t received a recruiting letter and the website still says $105k.

This is a ridiculously rudimentary question from a 2L, but how does clerkship comp work if you clerk after working at the firm? Say I work a year at my firm after graduation, clerk for a year, and go back. Do I still get a market clerkship bonus and end up as a third year?
Also, how would it work for two clerkships that are separated by time at the firm? i.e. Graduation -> D. Ct -> Firm -> COA -> Firm

For most firms, the answer to your first question is yes. Also worth knowing is that coming into a clerkship with a year or more of legal work experience will give you a measurable salary bump on the JS scale.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 11:48 pmThis is a ridiculously rudimentary question from a 2L, but how does clerkship comp work if you clerk after working at the firm? I only plan on doing a single clerkship, but my understanding of the way things work for your second question is: following the first clerkship, you’d get the market bonus for one clerkship plus the class credit. After the second clerkship, you’d get a bonus equal to the difference between the one and two clerkship bonuses (e.g. 70k-50k = 20k bonus). You’d also possibly be eligible for another year of class credit. Anecdotally, the class credit thing has some play in it and I’ve heard of people negotiating diverging levels of seniority for pay/partnership purposes.
One thing that I’m curious about is how often people are able to negotiate the full bonus when moving firms following a second clerkship, even when they’ve collected the first bonus from their original firm.

How does the stub year affect your salary when you come off a clerkship? I thought a clerkship would mean you come in with second year salary, but I am wondering if the stub year means you actually have a stub year yourself after your clerkship at the first-year salary before being bumped up to second year with your class in January..?

I clerked right after graduation and one of my offers has me at the first-year rate through the end of the year, then bumping up with class year. My other offer has me starting at a second-year salary.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 3:31 pmHow does the stub year affect your salary when you come off a clerkship? I don’t know why your offer letter said that but I know for a fact that at least some offer letters for 2x Art. III clerks have offered $150k as a bonus, vesting over two years. You might want to ask recruiting about that.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 1:47 pmThis is wrong. Do you think if you did a clerkship, went to a firm for a year, then did another clerkship, then went to Quinn, that would qualify as one clerkship or two?

Does the vesting piece mean you must spend two years with the firm in order to get the bonus?

It’s a two-year clawback, not a vesting period. You get paid the full bonus within a couple weeks of starting, but have to pay it all back if you leave within two years.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 4:35 pmAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 2:03 pmI don’t know why your offer letter said that but I know for a fact that at least some offer letters for 2x Art. Does it have to be consecutive clerkships? Know someone who did two clerkships, but firm in between and only offered 125k

Maybe they gave you a lower offer than other clerks?

If a firm website says you get class credit for an article 3 clerkship, and this was confirmed in interviews, does that not necessarily mean you get the second year salary?
I got an offer letter with a first-year salary offer that I sincerely hope was a typo…

Did you graduate law school in 2022? If so, then that’s unsurprising. (You keep the same salary during your stub and the next calendar year.) The question is what happens to your salary come 1/1/24. If you’re treated commensurate with your peers, you should then receive the second-year salary.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 11:28 pmIf a firm website says you get class credit for an article 3 clerkship, and this was confirmed in interviews, does that not necessarily mean you get the second year salary?

The exact language in the letter our chambers received is:Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:28 pmHas anyone received an offer and clerkship bonus from Quinn?

"We are very proud of the large number of law clerks who have come to practice at our firm. We have nearly 200 lawyers who clerked for United States District Courts, Delaware Court of Chancery, Circuit Courts of
Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. The experience law clerks receive is invaluable to
our practice. That is why we make recruitment of law clerks a top priority and the reason why we
pay federal judicial clerks a $125,000 signing bonus. Clerks who have completed two qualifying
clerkships receive an additional $25,000 bonus."

This is very helpful. Thank you.
If you don't mind me asking, are you in a district ct clerkship or appellate? And are you in a flyover district or one of the highly sought after (SDNY, DC, etc.)?
