It is my understanding that he hires very late. Like, June late.

Judge Thomas was interviewing for 2014 still in late November. So, I don't think he's in any rush.

From what I hear he has filled some (but maybe not all) spots for 2015.

Any insight into hiring for the 2016-2017 term? Generally interested in non-feeders.

Also interested in this. When do 9th Cir. judges generally start reviewing/interviewing?

Unlikely. It would be bad form to hire before getting confirmed.

As of 5 last night, he was not full, per an email from Stanford's clerkship office. He is hiring for folks to start right away, though, and is also already looking to fill his 15-16 slots.

I imagine he and Friedland (providing she is confirmed soon, as expected) will finish hiring relatively quickly.

2013 HYS grad and current district court clerk. Going to a firm after finishing the clerkship this summer. Potentially interested in clerking on the 9th in 2016-17 (to make sure I do my one full year for resume/bonus purposes). When should I start sending applications out if I decide to go this route?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
