In a move that almost anybody could see coming years ago, the clerkship plan is dead. Not just effectively dead as it has been for a while (at least for many clerkships), but formally dead and buried.

I think it was a good idea in theory at the aggregate to regulate the procedures for applying because it helped both applicants and chambers alike in simplifying and streamlining the process, but the individual desire to cheat was just too high. Quite sad.

i think you misread this. the article says they're discontinuing the hiring of law clerks.
